ART AND REALITY; 8.9.23

Comparing art and reality, in order to confront them and make one triumph over the other, as Plato did, is foolish: art, being a sensitive object, promoting its sensitive effects, could only be real.

Let us replace the art object, for example, a painting, with a mirror; the ability of the mirror to reflect the real (nature) promoting a reflection and therefore "an illusion" does not make the mirror itself an illusion, it is a real object endowed with an illusory capacity, this being an amplification of the real by a faculty of expanding the possibilities of apprehending the real, that is, apprehending the real through a reflection is an "extra" way of apprehending nature, therefore, an expansion of the means of seeing it. The same with a painting, if the painting, or sculpture, or any other art object that aims to mimic an object present in nature, for example a tree, this mimetic capacity of the art object - the work - does not make the object itself illusory, but with an evocative, assimilative and apprehensive capacity for reality.

But this mimetic capacity, not constituting the main object of the work - its ultimate objective - as it deepens the fabrics of reality, evoking, beyond the mere natural image, its emotions, its temperament, etc., makes the object of art a unique object, that is, existing as itself and therefore real, present in nature in order to provide its expansion and deepening through its inspiration.

Art enlarges and expands reality, whether in its perception or as an object of reality, present in reality.

It deepens the levels of perception of the real, therefore, it "widens", "deepens" the real.
