PAINTING IN SMALL FORMATS - ABOUT MY "FRAGMENTS" SERIES - 8.10.22
(...) fragments that express a whole, and that make the theme in their cut-outs even in the approximation that the image in its detail evokes in us.
... For some time now, I've had the idea of creating a series of small paintings, called "Fragments", consisting of pieces that my eye sees, cut-outs that I get the first impression of when looking at an image, before seeing it as a whole. There are five key words that define this series: fragments, cut-outs, frames, details, pieces. They're like frames from a comic book, or pieces of a jigsaw puzzle, details from a close-up of an image, frames cut out of a whole, in short, fragments that express a whole, and that make their cut-outs the theme even in the approximation that the image in its detail evokes in us.
I started working on it yesterday, 7.10.22, making 6 paintings on A2 paper that I folded several times, then cut it into A5 format, which is the final format of the work. I did this in the early hours of Friday morning, and the series remains open for more productions. I'll make available photos of the night I made the watercolor paintings, and a video of the following night, when I signed the works.
